When Vivian Jamison, a former high profile model and the wife of a wealthy businessman, is found murdered, the evidence points to high school senior Michael Nowlin (CHRISTOPHER JACOT), who worked for the Jamison family, detailing their cars.
Michael's mother, Sandra (TRACY NELSON), doesn't believe her son is capable of murder, despite Michael's troubled behavior since his father died.
As the investigation unfolds and details of the case are released, Sandra's confidence in Michael's innocence begins to wane. Catching him in a lie about where he was the night of the killing, Sandra confronts her son. She is shocked to learn that he was having an affair with the much older Vivian, but Michael swears he had nothing to do with her death.
Hardnosed Detective Chad Bruning (BRUCE BOXLEITNER) disagrees and informs Sandra that a search of her house has turned up what could be the murder weapon--at which point Michael is arrested and thrown in jail.
Although Sandra must admit the case against Michael is strong, a mother's intuition is stronger. She believes her son has been set up and knows she is the only one who can prove it.
Launching her own investigation, Sandra soon uncovers Vivian's sordid past and begins to open doors that some would prefer stay closed, making her the target of the real killer, Lyle (LINDEN ASHBY).
When Sandra learns the store clerk, her son's only alibi, has been murdered, she realizes there is little time before the killer comes for her.
Undaunted, she tracks down Lyle, breaks into his home and finds evidence that could link him to the murder of Vivian Jamison.
But Lyle is soon on to her, and in a race against time, Sandra must try to use the evidence to expose Lyle.before Lyle disposes of her.
