When Lisa Dorian marries Ty Kellington, she is convinced she has found the perfect husband. He's a successful writer who has recently moved to Buffalo, and lives in a gorgeous mansion on the outskirts of town; he's handsome, kind, charming, intelligent.
But what Lisa doesn't know is that there is a dark side to Ty. a dangerous side that led to the death of his previous wife.
She gets her first glimpse of Ty's true nature when she accepts a job producing a radio talk show in Buffalo. He tells her that he doesn't like the fact that she will be working long hours away from home.
Insanely jealous and possessive, Ty is obsessed with keeping Lisa near him and controlling every aspect of her life. And he is especially threatened by the fact that she will be working for a sexy young talk show host named Matt.
On her first day at work, an angry Ty starts to hallucinate that Matt is making romantic overtures to his wife. Soon, his jealousy leads him to stalk her and plot violence toward Matt.
Disguised as a mugger, Ty attacks Matt and nearly kills him. But much to his chagrin, this only serves to generate publicity for Matt, and further ignite his already red hot radio career. When Lisa tells him that she will be required to work even longer hours to prepare for Matt's comeback, Ty is further enraged.
Complicating Ty's paranoia is the arrival of Beverly, Lisa's stepsister, who comes to stay at the house while she tries to put her life back together after the untimely death of her boyfriend.
Ty decides to take drastic action to get rid of all of the forces pulling Lisa away from him. He falsely accuses Beverly of making sexual advances, driving a wedge between the two sisters and forcing Beverly to leave the house. When Lisa confronts him about his behavior, he accidentally (or so it seems) causes her to fall down a staircase, crippling her ankle and leaving her bedridden.
Ty finally has what he wants: Lisa all to himself.
By now, Lisa realizes just how dangerous Ty is. Cut off from the outside world, she is a virtual prisoner in his isolated mansion.
As Ty descends further into madness, Lisa plots a daring escape. Will she break free of Ty's dangerous grasp. or will she become the latest victim of the perfect husband?
